And he’s already part of the family.
‘Fast and Furious 10’, which we will be able to see in Spain on May 19, is one of the most anticipated action movies of 2023, since it will be the penultimate adventure on wheels for Dominic Toretto and his team before reaching the end of the walk with ‘Fast & Furious 11’ in a saga that has lasted more than twenty years.
Who will be in charge of ending the franchise? Universal Pictures has the answer and has announced that ‘Fast X’ director Louis Leterrier has been rehired for such an end that, let’s remember, will also mean Paul Walker’s emotional farewell from the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga, as its main star, Vin Diesel, has stated.
Having worked on movies like Marvel’s ‘Transporter’ and ‘The Incredible Hulk’, the Frenchman’s engaging work in ‘Now You See Me’ and ‘Lupin’ landed him the latest ‘Fast & Furious’ contract after Justin Lin left the project a little less than a year ago.
And it seems that much of the studio has been very impressed by the way Leterrier has handled this fuel-focused universe.
Universal Pictures Chairman Peter Cramer announced in a statement: “Louis joined the ‘Fast & Furious’ team perfectly.with an innate understanding of the franchise that is stronger than ever after two decades.”
“Under his guidance, ‘Fast X’ is a high intensity thriller with all the action, emotion and spectacular twists what fans expect, and much more.
“We are delighted that he continues to make magic in the director’s chair.”
Back in February, the filmmaker himself spoke out about the connection between ‘Fast X’ and ‘Fast & Furious 5’: Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes.
“Fast & Furious 5′ is, without a doubt, the best movie in the franchise. It’s the best,” Leterrier declared. Indeed, the fifth installment is one of those rare cases of sequels that were better than the first film.
“That chase with the safe, it’s the greatest moment in movie history, so we said to ourselves, ‘What if we live this scene through the eyes of Reyes, the guys who own the safe, and Dom? and Brian are the robbers that kill them?'”
“We see them from afar and they say: ‘Finish them. They’re bad, they stole our safe.’ That’s what’s interesting: by doing it, you guide the audience to rethink everything they’ve experienced in the entire franchise. The antagonists have always had their point of view and their truth, which is very different from that of the other”.
