With BRI, Canal+ hopes to convince viewers that it is still the reference channel for dark, realistic and edgy thrillers. From the first minutes, it is clear that the series is quickly winning the bet and is already ready to follow in the footsteps of the great French detective fiction of the last decade: Engrenages, born… on Canal+.

Erwan Augoyard and Jeremy Guess lead this ultra-precise and well-documented project. The latter and the actors even got into contact with real agents of the Versailles Research and Intervention Brigade. Some of them also came to the set to give advice on how to better reflect the reality on the ground. In this way, we feel the accuracy of the statement as we follow the entire process from investigation to intervention. Jérémie Guez is passionate and expert in this field, and it shows!

In terms of casting, we left the front of the stage to five talented and proven actors, but still relatively unknown to the general public. Result: These actors who make up this team of heroes make their characters very interesting with their raw and fresh interpretation. A grain of youthful madness shines through in the energetic interaction between these protagonists, who nevertheless live with enormous pressure on their shoulders. On the other hand, Emmanuel DeVos and Vincent Elbaz are surprising here.

The main story begins with tension, and in the final episode of the season we witness an impressive final cliffhanger. There is no easy Manichaeism in this eight-part salvo. The good guys and the bad guys are sometimes very similar in their actions and methods… There are many shades of gray between black and white in how this BRI works, which makes the story even more compelling.

BRI delivers a well-crafted first season and we absolutely want to know the outcome. The actors are all very believable (and very likable, more importantly!) and the trajectories of their characters are intriguing. This large-scale project allows Canal+ to effectively connect with the genre that once made it famous, while maintaining its uniqueness. At the end of the action scenes, we end with suspense and are already eagerly waiting for the second season!
