Wagner Moura has no longer worked in television fiction since “Paraíso Tropical” and favors cinema and series, formats that consume less time.
The actor Wagner Moura explained the reasons for his departure from Brazilian soap operas, a format from which he had been absent since 2007. In an interview with the Hugo Gloss website this Sunday (12), during the promotion of the film “The Secret Agent”, the Bahian artist underlined the long period of dedication required by the productions as the main reason for not returning to teledrama.
“I think it’s difficult. I’ve made two telenovelas that I really liked and I learned a lot, but it’s a huge commitment, almost a whole year. It’s a long time,” said Moura, who became known for playing the character of Olavo in the telenovela “Paraíso Tropical.”
The actor has not completely ruled out his participation in Brazilian television productions, but has indicated a preference for shorter formats. “A series, perhaps, would be better. It takes less time,” he said, suggesting that shorter productions would be more compatible with his current schedule.
After leaving soap operas 18 years ago, Wagner directed his career mainly towards cinema. His recent career includes participation in international and national series, such as “Drug Thieves”, produced by Apple TV. In Brazil, he starred in the series “JK”, playing former president Juscelino Kubitschek in the first phase of the production written by Maria Adelaide Amaral and Alcides Nogueira.
The statements were released during the launch campaign of the feature film “The Secret Agent”, in which the actor participates.
