Tonight on TV: Only Avatar Outlasts This Movie That Was Nearly $3 Billion at the Worldwide Box Office

Released in 2019, Avengers: Endgame sees the eponymous group of superheroes close ranks against the fearsome Thanos for a high-profile showdown. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film thus marks the end of an epic arc in the MCU saga – ten years of connected intrigue across more than twenty films!

With the high expectations of fans, the feature film has collected records: be it its exceptional duration of 3 hours and 2 minutes, the 289 million views recorded by the first trailer in just 24 hours, or even its worldwide box office.

After the best start in cinema history, bringing in more than $1.2 billion worldwide in its opening weekend, Avengers: Endgame It has reached $2.790 billion after 12 weeks in theaters.

This surpassed the record held by Avatar, which grossed $2.847 billion internationally in 2009. The superhero film thus remained the top-grossing film in cinema history for nearly two years before being dethroned by James Cameron’s feature, which regained the lead thanks to a re-release in China in March 2021.
