‘She doesn’t make sense’: Netflix’s Obsession ending shocks its lead actor

Obsession star Richard Armitage confided Hello magazine on his reaction to the shocking events that occur at the end of the Netflix series. Richard Armitage, known for his previous roles in The Hobbit and Strike Back, discusses his character, Dr. William Farrow, and the series as a whole.

To remind you: after an affair that turned into obsession, William (Richard Armitage) and his future daughter-in-law Anna (Charlie Murphy) find themselves again in the latter’s apartment. But Jay (Rish Shah), William’s son, rushes to his fiancée and surprises his father and Anna in a moment of passion.

Shocked by what he sees, Jay goes backwards and crashes into the top floor apartment’s stair railing. William rushes over to find his son bleeding on the ground. Anna just walks past them at this point, William in tears and Jay gasping for air. After attending the funeral and after his wife, Ingrid (Indira Varma), files for divorce, it’s clear that William still hasn’t forgotten Anna.

On those final moments and why William wants to continue his relationship with her, Richard Armitage says:William tells her “I’d do it again” knowing the outcome. It’s such a random and unpredictable fatality that if you were given the chance to retreat, most people would say, “I’d walk away from you.”“

He follows: “But he doesn’t, he says, “I’d do it all over again.” Even if he knew it would happen again. I don’t know if I knew the level of passion, the obsession that would make me sacrifice my entire life for just one person.The actor also talks about the reaction of the fans:I asked them to put themselves in her shoes and imagine what it must be like to feel something so strongly. In a way, it gives him a kind of rebirth, he feels reborn.“

“There is a logical way, but I can’t find it. I had to find his logic, but it doesn’t make sense. I’m sure there are people who have been on the brink of that intensity and gotten away with it, but I think they’ll be watching this person for the rest of their lives. They can’t get it out of their head forever“.
