The Juvet Landscape Hotel, the refuge where Matsson hosts the protagonists of ‘Succession’ in 4×05, is not as excessively expensive as one might expect.
It wouldn’t be a new season of ‘Succession’ without a luxury retreat. In years past, the Roys and their henchmen have flocked to Connor’s New Mexico home for family time, to Hungary to play the hilarious parlor game “Boar on the Floor,” and to Richmond, Virginia, for “primaries.” of the ATN”. On this occasion, Kendall, Shiv and Roman take a private jet to Scandinavia to convince Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) to increase his bid for the Waystar Royco and GoJo merger..
Despite being all Swedish, Norway is the location of choice for GoJo’s annual retreat. Needless to say, it’s impressive. It’s all towering mountains, moss-fringed waterfalls, and cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows tucked away in the woods, but it’s not enough for the Roys. Kendall has mud on her shoes and “my [cabaña] it’s fucking small,” he complains. “When a bear shits in the woods he uses one of these,” says Roman. Even Aesop’s freestanding bathroom products can’t fix this.
The Norwegian hotel of ‘Succession’
‘Succession’ producer Scott Ferguson had already spoken to Variety about the choice of location: “Norway is a glorious, natural setting. I immediately found it a perfect place for a family reunion on the show.”
Even more perfect is the Juvet Landscape Hotel, and if you’re looking for a glimpse into the lives of billionaires, you’ll be happy to know you can stay in the same cabins as the Roys. And what is better, You won’t need the funding of a media mogul dad, dead or alive, to stay there.
Juvet -located on the northwest coast of Norway, just outside the town of Valldal- is a 24-bed hotel set in a birch forest that offers a “high-contrast encounter between beautiful cultural landscape and innovative architecturebuilt with the desire to interfere as little as possible with nature”.
Its website indicates that it is “a once-in-a-lifetime getaway. An architectural gem. Surrounded by virgin and untamed nature. Open your soul and connect with nature. Feel time and space at your leisure.”
Among the luxury accommodations, there are seven “minimalist, unique landscape rooms”—the cabins that Kendall and Roman found totally inadequate—then two “birdhouses,” a four-bed writer’s quarters, and the boardroom, where Hugo gobbled up that delicious brunch.
There’s also a Turkish bath and bathhouse – perfect for sitting naked with colleagues, unable to look anyone in the eye – as well as a traditional barn for dining.
Aviaries start at NOK 4,600 (€394) per nightalthough they include breakfast and dinner, while the landscape room costs NOK 5,700 (€488) per night, and the writers’ room costs NOK 8,300 (€711) per night, also including meals.
The hotel opened in 2010 and has won several architecture awards, as well as being featured in a multitude of beauty magazines. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the 2014 sci-fi film ‘Ex Machina’ (Alex Garland) was also filmed here.
Once reserved, everything is ready. Alone with nature, a multi-million dollar fusion and a huge void where your soul used to be.
