Five years after the release of The Equalizer 2, Denzel Washington finds himself in a costume by vigilante Robert McCall and director Antoine Fuqua. In this new adventure, presented as the “final chapter” in the trailer, Denzel Washington retires to Italy. But the hero quickly forgets the Dolce vita… to get back the keys to his arm and face the mafia!

Therefore, it seems that the European framework is confirmed, as the director proposed some time ago. “I have a European adventure in my head, absolutely. That is why I would like to see him in Europe in the future. God’s will“, he pointed out to Collider in 2018.
The official synopsis has been released: After giving up his role as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) struggles to come to terms with the demons of his past and finds strange solace in standing up for the downtrodden. While he finds a haven of peace in southern Italy, he discovers that his friends are under the control of the local mafia. When events take a deadly turn, McCall knows what to do: protect his friends against the mafia.
Note that the tune you can hear at the beginning of the trailer is Volareby Domenico Modunio (later picked up by the Gipsy Kings).
The Equalizer 3, directed by Antoine Fuqua, with Dakota Fanning (in the first opus and returning here), Gaia Scodelaro and an Italian cast, will be released on August 30, 2023.
This trailer was released at CinemaCon, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas. Denzel Washington was in attendance and took the microphone to thank the public as he accepted his Lifetime Achievement Award from director Antoine Fuqua.
