The Chamber of Deputies creates CPI to investigate manipulation in football matches

The matches of the Brasileirão of 2022 are under investigation by the deputy of Goiás

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP), announced the creation of a CPI to investigate the match fixing in football matches. According to “Agência Câmara de Notícias”, the parliamentary commission of inquiry will be made up of 34 members.

In the last week, the Goiás prosecutor’s office announced the investigation into the manipulation of bets in matches of the Brasileirão Série A 2022 and this year’s state games. In all, 11 matches and nine athletes would be suspects in the “Maximum Penalty II” operation.

One of the athletes under investigation is Moraes, from Atlético-GO, who defended Juventude last year. HI! managed to confirm the names of midfielder Gabriel Tota and defender Kevin Lomónaco. Players would be harassed to get a yellow card.

Last week, defender Eduardo Bauermann admitted to the Santos board that he was one of the athletes being investigated in the operation. However, the player claimed to have denied the offer to participate in the scheme and made himself available to Justice to provide clarifications.
