After six days of work, Cuca is no longer the coach of Corinthians. The manager’s family has asked the manager to leave the club due to protests by some fans against his arrival. The news was given by Cuca himself in an announcement made in the press room of the Neo Química Arena after the standings against Remo in the Copa do Brasil.
“I’ll be 69 next month. We weigh what’s worth and what’s not in life. I want my family to be worth it. I didn’t expect this avalanche that I’ve experienced here. I’ve been judged and punished by the internet. This has a very big consequence, in every sense”, commented the coach, who has lived with protests in recent days due to his conviction for sexual abuse of weak subjects in 1989.
In his speech, Cuca thanked the athletes for their support and praised the president Duilio Monteiro Alves. The coach said he hopes to return to Corinthians one day to do a full job.
“I come here in the excitement of the game, a game that has been fantastic. For the first time I have heard the pulse of the Arena, of Fiel, in favor. It has been wonderful, with the taking of this vacancy. It has been a day lived, of a dream. to realize, they had three, four very heavy days. A nightmare. A massacre that happened. I was very concentrated, I didn’t want to divert attention. That catches the players, today they moved me. I didn’t have asked nothing, but they have heard, as a former athlete, what I am going through. I want to be very brief, I am not a victim of anything. What I am going through is the worst thing a man can go through, when his dignity is in check. When his family is threatened on social media,” he commented.
“I thank the president, who is a wonderful person. I made this decision yesterday. He is a wonderful boy, humble and it hurt him. The pressure was enormous. It’s not right to let him suffer for a problem that is mine. I thank the players, I they embraced, they bought my noise, my ideas.
Cuca leaves Corinthians with just two games played: a 3-1 defeat against Goiás in the Brazilian championship and a 2-0 win against Remo for the second leg of the third stage of the Copa do Brasil.
After the victory against Remo, several Corinthians players celebrated the standings with the coach on the pitch. Even with the support of the altetas, Cuca prioritized his family and left Timão after a short passage.
