Odair Hellmann used the midfielder as a starter after the interseason
Santos’ starter after the mid-season, a period in which the team only trained after being knocked out in Paulistão, midfielder Ivonei soon lost space under coach Odair Hellmann. He was not even mentioned in Peixe’s victory last Wednesday (26), against Botafogo-SP, in the third phase of the Brazil Cup.
According to the Alvinegro coach, Menino da Vila has lost space due to the excess of players in position. Also, he has apparently been beaten by Miguelito and Ed Carlos in the internal dispute.
– Ivonei was not listed like many others. Ed Carlos, Miguelito and Daniel Ruiz were on the list. In addition to having one midfielder on the field (Lucas Lima), we had three other midfielders on the bench. There’s no way to bring everyone in,” said Odair, who added:
– The guy who travels alone and doesn’t play, “doesn’t train”. We have to have that management capability. Miguelito and Ed Carlos are, right now, training well and deserve to have the opportunity to make the roster. Who knows, maybe even get into the matches – said the Santos commander at the press conference after the Copa do Brasil triumph.
SUDDENLY OUT?
Odair has been working on a new line-up during the break from competitive matches. The coach bet on a 4-4-2, with a diamond in midfield, made up of Camacho, Rodrigo Fernández and Dodi. The Uruguayan defensive midfielder, on the other hand, was suspended for his first match after the interseason, against Blooming (BOL). Ivonei then went chosen as an immediate replacement.
In the win against the Bolivian side, the 21-year-old played as a left midfielder, falling on the wing. After having a poor performance, he never played for Peixe again.
Santos visited Botafogo-SP in their next game, but for the first leg. Ivonei remained on the bench and did not come on.
For his debut in the Brasileirão, against Grêmio, the midfielder was not included. Subsequently, Alvinegro Praiano faced Audax Italiano, in Sul-Americana, and the player remained off Odair Hellmann’s roster.
