When The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is bowing out after five seasons, with creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino already planning the next series. Prime Video has ordered a two-season series for the stars, starring Luke Kirby, Gideon Glick as Ms. Maisel’s alumni, and French women Camille Cotin and Lou de Lages.
Set in New York and Paris, Étoile follows the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies as they embark on an ambitious quest to save their storied institutions by exchanging their most talented stars.
The new series was first announced last fall when Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino began casting for the untitled ballet production. The duo will write, direct and produce the project, which is being developed as part of their overall deal with Amazon Studios.
This two-season order coincides with Ms. Maisel’s original order, which at the time was the first new Prime Video series to be ordered for two seasons.

Ballet is a favorite place for Amy Sherman-Palladino, who trained as a dancer. She created and produced the ballet comedy-drama Bunheads, and was a ballet teacher on her hit series Gilmore Girls. He worked with choreographer Marguerite Derricks and Ms. Maisel on both series. Marguerite Derricks is also set to take part in Étoile.
At this time, we do not know more about the content of the roles attributed to Camille Cotin and Lou de Lage.
