MP Orlando Silva justified that the issue has no agreement and could make the approval of the project even more difficult
BRASÍLIA – The rapporteur for the Fake News project in the Chamber, Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP), delivered the bill to deputies on Thursday evening, 27, and removed from the text the creation of an autonomous entity to monitor fingerprints of the platforms. The control body has been one of the points of greatest criticism by the opposition and the so-called Bic Tech.
Orlando Silva, on the other hand, kept another article in the project that had generated complaints from companies such as Google, Tik Tok and Meta – controllers of Facebook and Instagram. The proposal continues to provide for the possibility of joint liability of platforms with users for content disseminated through advertising. Today only the user who produces illegal content can be sanctioned.
The bill is due for a vote next week after the House passes an urgent request in a close vote in the House plenary.
