After skipping French theaters with Avalonia, will Disney return to French theaters as Christmas approaches? As of now, Wish is well on its way to being released on November 23rd. And its trailer shows that it has all the elements to work its magic at full speed.
“History prepared for a century”, the box tells us, which is anything but trivial. Because Disney Studios will be celebrating their centennial in 2023. And Wish could be the perfect fireworks to celebrate this anniversary. Because the desire and desire that the film’s title depicts are key elements of their greatest classic.
And that here we find a mixture of visual and musical magic reminiscent of the last Encanto. among others. In the fictional kingdom, Rosas, where all wishes can come true, and with animation that combines 2D sets and 3D characters, it seems to reflect the different styles of Disney in one fairy tale.
Co-directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, The Snow Queen and its sequels) and Fawn Veerasunthorn, Wish can also enchant us with this fun magical star named Star quite easily. Or thanks to its voice-over, led by Oscar winner Ariana DeBose as West Side Story and Chris Pine as the evil King Magnifico.
A feature film that can be screened at the Annecy Festival from June 11 to 17, and which will then be released in our cinemas, if all goes well, at the same time as Encanto in 2021. We wish for the same success than the latter, which attracted 3,361,281 viewers in France, while its soundtrack became a worldwide phenomenon.
