Directed by David Lowery (‘A Ghost Story’), ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’ is a live action adaptation that tells the timeless story of Peter Pan (alexander molony) and Wendy Darling (Ever Anderson), but with themes that speak to today’s world and more “depth of characters”, according to its director. One especially significant distinction is how the film’s villain, Captain Hook, is approached. Although he remains Peter’s adversary in the film, Hook has undergone a reinterpretation of his origin story. and we spoke to Captain Hook himself, Jude Law, for more clues about the new Hook figure, how the character has changed since the 1953 Disney animated classic, and what to expect from the pirate in the new remake.

In fact, what I did was go back to the book, to really see what JM Barrie I had written and drawn. The first illustrations and the first descriptions. But my starting point was largely the text that David [Lowery] half…”
Lowery, for allusions, continues the response: “It all really started with… We knew the iconography, we knew where we were going, the red coat, the hat… Those things had to be there. Once we accepted that, it allowed us to start from scratch and start asking questions. Not only where he comes from, but also what it’s like to live as the leader of a bunch of scruffy pirates.. How did they get there? Where did they get the ship? Where do those clothes come from? And you start asking these questions and there are wonderful details, fun details that come to mind but they all speak to the character in an intrinsic and important way.”
