Always by your side: There is no third season for the Netflix series, this is how it ends

End clapping for Always There for You, a series coming to Netflix in 2021. The platform bet on this adaptation of the novel, which depicts the story of friendship between two women. Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke worked on the project for two years, and they said goodbye to fans in the second part of season 2, which premiered on April 27.

This latest burst of episodes takes place a few months after Part 1, when Kate discovers she has particularly aggressive breast cancer. Faced with this information, she decides to go in search of her best friend, with whom she was cold at the time. But the latter at the same time flew to the other side of the world for a mission.

This last part was supposed to answer a rather thorny question: Will Kate survive the cancer? And we are given the answer from the first minute of episode 16. We find Tully in front of the mirror talking to her best friend. It’s a big day since Kate’s daughter got married. Two women recall the past years. But when the camera pans to the mirror, we learn that Tully has been talking to herself all along, and that Kate is dead.

We flash back a few years, where we learn that his cancer has spread to his brain and that he only has a few months to live. We witness the final moments between Tully and Kate. The latter is also writing a book called Firefly Lanewhich recalls their friendship.

The Netflix series is fairly faithful to Christine Hanna’s novel, which also ended with the death of its protagonist. Therefore, this end of the season will not spare its viewers, who will witness particularly intense scenes. But the strength of Always There for you is that you manage to find a little bit of optimism and joy even in the most difficult moments. And the last episode is no exception to this rule.

Netflix has no plans to offer Always There for You Season 3, although writer Christine Hanna has written a sequel centered on Tully.
