Star Wars 10: The 75-Year-Old Jedi? Ray was almost played by this great British actor!

We already know there won’t be a Damon Lindelof Star Wars movie. In a new episode of “The Hot Mic” podcast, inside scoop reporter Jeff Snyder revealed more details about the project, including who might play the older Rey Skywalker instead of Daisy Ridley.

As ComingSoon reports, Jeff Snyder did mention that Damon Lindelof’s original plan for the film was to take place 60 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Thus, this version featured a much older Rey trying to rebuild the Jedi Order by training two young apprentices. The reporter also mentioned who could replace Daisy Ridley in the lead role.

It must have been the elder Rey training the two Jedi. A man and a woman, who I think would both be colorful. They did not go to see this actor, they did not offer him, but he was a reference. When they make the casting lists, they say, “Ideally, this is what we want.” This does not necessarily mean that the typical person is the person who will eventually be hired. But mostly, Chief Ray, they were thinking of Helen Mirren.

Helen Mirren as Ray? It would cause a sensation! Podcast co-host John Rocha, meanwhile, added that in the film, Rey tried to restore the Jedi Order, but Lucasfilm’s president wanted to rejuvenate Kathleen Kennedy’s character, causing Damon Lindelof and co-writer Justin Britt-Gibson to leave the project.

Did Damon Lindelof say thank you?

A few days ago, Damon Lindelof also confided in the topic, telling Esquire that he was “asked to leave” the project, but that he would be willing to try again in the future.

I was more than in talks to join the Star Wars universe. I joined the star wars universe and was asked to leave… do I stand outside the club and try to get in again? absolutely. If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again, or try again and again, as Yoda would say.

Thus, leaving the Star Wars universe was not a decision shared by the co-creator of Lost and The Leftovers, who was called upon to write the script for the franchise’s new movie alongside director Charmaine Obaid-Chinoy ( Miss Marvel ). Damon Lindelof tapped Justin Britt-Gibson to write the film before the duo left the project in February. They were later replaced as screenwriters by Stephen Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders.

The next Star Wars movie, therefore, will happen without an older Rey, but with the Rey we know, Daisy Ridley, who will return in the saga. If the rumors are true, John Boyega should be there too.

While you wait to discover this new component, you can watch the entire Star Wars saga on Disney+.
