BRI: Is the muscular Canal+ series inspired by the stories of real agents?

The immersion into BRI continues on Canal+… This Monday, May 1, the encrypted channel really continues to broadcast season 1 of its new detective series from 21:09 with episodes 3 and 4. As a reminder, we will discuss here. In the daily life of the agents of the Versailles BRI, a historical unit specializing in organized crime.

In the heart of “BRI”…

Said (Sofian Khames) leads a team of young elite cops who are as reckless as they are efficient. A former member of the special forces replaces Patrick (Bruno Todeschini), a charismatic leader who built his police legend over 20 years with Eric (Vincent Elbaz), the leader of the Paris underworld clan.

Said will have to find his place in his group while avoiding a gang war between Eric’s family and the El Hassan brothers. But it was without hope for Patrick, who was determined to return to the scene if Said refused to take sides in settling these accounts, risking the fire of the capital…

Ultra-realistic and highly successful, the fiction features a defined cast of characters portrayed by a series of fresh and compelling actors. Also, were the main characters of BRI based on real stories experienced by agents?

Characters inspired by real agents?

During the press conference, series co-creator Jeremy Guez (along with Erwan Augoyar) explained that he was immersed with the real police officers of this specialized brigade, but that “The characters’ stories are not at all inspired by the real stories of BRI agents

I just wanted to take details from reality to incorporate them into each character.he continued. I am a person who works hard on fiction. I think BRI is very focused, it’s possible that things will intersect again, but I’m working on the “archetypes” of the thriller and trying to reshape and modernize them.

Finally, Jeremy Guess concluded:I have a great appetite for the genre and its variations. The fact of repeating the same global theme, but in a different way, makes me happy. For me, that’s where the challenge and excitement lies, whether to succeed (…) In criminal intrigue, thugs are more inspired by real people than police officers, in terms of trajectories..”

But these cops in the series are tentative. The humor and joy of this group of young people is matched by these amazing police officers. And we don’t usually see these cops in other fiction in that light.
