Ridley Scott is assembling a great cast for his Gladiator sequel, which is now set to shoot. With Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan and Denzel Washington already on board, he adds a returning veteran and an additional new face as Connie Nielsen returns as Lucilla, while Strange things Joseph Quinn got the role of Emperor Caracalla.
gladiator 2 It will take place years after the events of the first film and will see Mescal play an adult version of the character Lucius (Lucilla’s son), as Spencer Treat Clark originally created him. Keoghan is in line to be the main antagonist, the Roman Emperor Geta (a fictional version of a real ruler). As for Caracalla, he’s a mystery for now, along with Washington’s character (described only as a “bad boy”).
The sequel is expected to hit theaters by November 22 next year.
