Vanderlei Luxemburgo is the new coach of Corinthians. The coach arrives to replace Cuca, who resigned last week. At 70, Luxa returns to the routine of a club after almost two years of hiatus from the profession. Last year the “professor” tried to invest in a political career, but without success.
The last club Luxemburgo coached before his career hiatus was Cruzeiro, in 2021. At the time, the Minas Gerais club was struggling in Serie B to get back into Brazilian football’s elite. Since Raposa’s departure, the coach has had a stint from football and nearly ran for a Senate seat.
The coach would participate in the 2022 elections with the PSB for the vacant post in the state of Tocantins. However, Luxembourg was excluded from the party’s plans before the campaigns began. At the time, the technician did not like the decision and even declared that he had been “stabbed in the back” by members of the group, in an open letter published on social media.

The commander has already added two more spells to Corinthians, in 1998 and 2001, which culminated in winning the Brazilian championship and the Paulistão respectively.
