While the live-action version of The Little Mermaid hits theaters on May 24, and the live-action version of Snow White is slated for release on March 20, 2024, Disney is currently working on a new version of the 1997 film, John Musker and Hercules. Ron Clements.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, already at the helm of the live-action Aladdin, Hercules will be, like The Little Mermaid, a more modern version.
Produced by Joe Russo, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame, this retelling of Greek mythology will be a modern musical.
In November 2022, Joe Russo announced variety That Hercules will be inspired by TikTok videos. He said so “Today’s audience has its own TikTok habits. So we’re interested in what expectations that audience has in terms of musicals. It can be quite fun to inspire us to produce a modern musical.“

This is one of my favorite projects and everyone involved is very enthusiastic.“
Like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, the live-action Hercules film will use songs from the animated film and should include new credits.
The cast for this new version is yet to be announced.
