Student eats Italian artwork made with banana

Noh Huyn-soo explained that he was hungry during the exhibition

A South Korean man has traveled around the world after eating a work by Italian sculptor Maurizio Cattelan, which consists of a banana taped to the wall with duct tape.

The work “Comedian”, valued at approximately $120,000, was exhibited at the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul and was part of the 62-year-old visual artist’s latest exhibition.

Noh art student Huyn-soo, apparently very calm and uninterrupted, took the fruit from the wall and ate it. A colleague from South Korea filmed all the action.

After destroying the valuable work of art, the young man used the same masking tape to attach the banana peel to the wall of the club. He even waved to the camera that was filming him and smiled.

The South Korean explained to museum staff that he skipped breakfast and was hungry.

The museum taped a new banana to the wall with gray tape to restore the artwork to its former glory. .
