Guardians of the Galaxy 3: You Can’t Know Everything Without Watching the Christmas TV Movie on Disney+

The final round for the Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s coolest mercenaries. Star Lord and his friends said goodbye to the third installment, which is still directed by James Gunn. But before that, they embark on a dangerous mission to save one of their own.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 picks up six years after the second installment, where Peter discovers that his biological father is none other than Ego, a planet that wants to take over the world. There he meets Mantis (Pom Klementieff), an empathic celestial hybrid who quickly joins his team. After the events of Avengers Endgame, the team loses Gamora (Zoe Saldana) to her father’s murder, but welcomes her sister Nebula (Karen Gillan).

Therefore, it is the new and re-composed team that we meet in the special Christmas TV movie, Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays, which Disney + offered to its subscribers last winter. This 40-minute featurette, still presented by James Gunn, sees Mantis, Drax, Nebula, Kraglin, Rocket and Groot trying to change the ideas of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), who is still reeling from Gamora’s disappearance. Their plan involves kidnapping Kevin Bacon, Star-Lord’s favorite actor, to propose to him.

If on paper it’s a simple Christmas TV movie as a gift to fans, the director has packed another surprise inside, addressing a theory involving the characters of Mantis and Star Sir. A theme that has been mentioned since the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and that may surprise viewers who haven’t seen the Holiday Special on Disney+.

(If you want to be spoiled, we’ll explain everything here).

This isn’t the first time Marvel has included Easter eggs or information in Disney+ productions that are essential to understanding the movies. But the proliferation of releases on the small and big screens seems to be putting off fans who can’t watch everything. But as for Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays, it’s a TV movie we highly recommend – even outside of the Christmas period – if you like this group of superheroes!
