Vanderlei Luxemburgo was not Corinthians’ only signing. The club has also brought in Antônio Mello to help with the physical side, and Maurício Corpetino, who will act as day-to-day assistant to the coach.

“Mello arrives as Vanderlei’s assistant to connect the medical side to the physical one. Corpetino is finishing a job, I don’t know what day he will arrive, but he is Vanderlei’s technical assistant”, commented president Duilio Monteiro Alves after the defeat against Independent del Valle.

At the beginning of the passage of Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Fernando Lázaro and Danilo are helping the commander. The coach spoke at the press conference about the club’s structure and the lack of need to bring many professionals with him.

“The CT is already a reality and offers all the prerequisites for having a much more prepared athlete on the field. We have great professionals, let’s adapt, Mello will add and he won’t replace anyone, this is important. I only brought two people. But thanks to our structure, today you get to a structured club, get an assistant, add people. It’s nice to see this moment of things happening in clubs here” commented the coach.

With the defeat against Del Valle, Corinthians are in third place in group E, with just three points won. Del Valle, in turn, takes second place, with six units. Argentinos Juniors, who drew in the group with Liverpool-URU, lead the group with seven points.

Now, Corinthians will be back on the pitch next Monday, at 8pm (Brasilia time), to face Fortaleza. The match valid for the fourth round of the Brazilian championship will also be played at the Neo Química Arena. For Libertadores the next duel will be against Argentinos Juniors, away, on the 24th.
