The US film and series industry is reeling with the writers’ strike. Have your favorite series been paralyzed or cancelled?
The Writers Union of America (WGA) began a new national strike yesterday in the US after the one that occurred 15 years ago, and the first consequences have not taken long to appear with paralyzed series and programs given the lack of scriptwriters and, therefore, of scripts.
The union’s demands are intended to make the work of screenwriters a more stable profession, addressing issues such as the need to greater royaltiesdata transparency when it comes to metrics and audience levels, and more regulation on the use of artificial intelligence in writing (a topic that is becoming increasingly important).
Both in solidarity and out of necessity, many shows and series have since announced that they will halt production. in the near future, if not already done. The late night by Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Bill Maher and John Oliver are on hiatus, as is the mythical TV show sketches ‘Saturday night Live’. For now, These are the series that have been affected in one way or another by the writers’ stoppage:
Writers Strike: ‘Cobra Kai’

One of the first showrunners to announce that they would pause production was Jon Hurwitz, co-creator of the hit Netflix series ‘Cobra Kai’.
We hate to strike, but if we must, we strike hard. Pencils down in the Cobra Kai writers room. No writers on set. These aren’t fun times, but it’s unfortunately necessary. The moment a fair deal is in place, we’ll get back to kicking ass. In the meantime, sending strength and… https://t.co/99UulF7HeW

In a statement on Twitter, Hurwitz stated: “We hate to strike, but if we must strike, we will strike hard. Pencils downstairs in the ‘Cobra Kai’ writers room. There are no writers on set. These are not fun times, but sadly it is necessary. The moment a fair deal is settled, we’ll be back to kicking ass. Meanwhile, we send strength and support to the negotiating committee.”
The release date of the sixth and final season of ‘Cobra Kai’ will depend a lot on the duration of this strike, which is why its creator drops it.
Writers Strike: ‘Yellowjackets’

The popular ‘Yellowjackets’, whose second season is being broadcast by Movistar+ in these weeks, also announced that will stop the work of season 3.
Well, we had exactly one day in the #YellowJackets S3 writers’ room. It was amazing, and creatively invigorating, and so much fun, and I’m very excited to get back to it as soon as the #WGA get a fair deal. #1u #unionstrong ✊🐝

Writers Strike: ‘Abbott College’

The current winner of the Golden Globe for best comedy series, broadcast on Disney +, not only has the production of its third season been paralyzed, but it may end up shortening the episodes of it.
In an interview with Democracy Now, the ‘Abbott College’ screenwriter Brittany Nichols explained that this is because they write while the show airs and expressed their wish that their work would be more valued in the future.”We demand that this industry be one that can sustain a career. It’s something as simple as that. We have a consistently profitable business, but Right now the studios seem to only care about Wall Street. They’re chasing a rabbit they’re never going to get and in that chase, they’re running over workers in this industry,” Nichols said.
