Police investigate alleged falsification of data for vaccination cards against Covid-19
On the morning of this Wednesday 3, the Federal Police arrested Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid Barbosa, former assistant of Jair Bolsonaro (PL). According to Globe News, the arrest was made in a search operation to investigate the entry of false Covid-19 vaccination data. The investigation team is also at the former president’s house for search and seizure. It has yet to be heard this Wednesday.
In addition to Cid, two of Bolsonaro’s security guards were also arrested. According to the PF, 16 search and seizure warrants and six preventive arrest warrants will be executed in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro, as well as the analysis of the material seized during the searches and interviews of people.
False data, which occurred between November 2021 and December 2022, was entered into the SI-PNI and RNDS systems of the Ministry of Health. Also according to the Police, the information concerns the condition of immunization against Covid-19, and these people were able to issue vaccination cards to use them to circumvent the current health restrictions imposed by Brazil and the United States.
The survey indicates that the group’s goal would be to keep the identity element consistent with its ideological orientations, in this case, to support the discourse aimed at attacks on vaccination against Covid-19. The actions take place as part of the police investigation investigating the work of what are conventionally called “digital militias”, in proceedings before the Federal Court.
The facts under investigation constitute, in theory, the crimes of infringement of preventive health measures, criminal association, entering false data into computer systems and bribery of minors.
