The history of heroin during the Second World War

Do you know Miep Gies? This Dutch woman was a heroine during World War II because she allowed Anne Frank’s family to hide from the Nazis for two years in the annex of the Otto Frank society. And that’s the subject of the series, Glimpse of Hope, available on Disney+.

She, who was Otto Frank’s carefree secretary, did not hesitate for a second to protect this family and others – the Van Pels and the Pfeffers – with the help of her husband Jan Gies at the risk of her life. If we have been able to understand the story of Anne Frank, it is because Mike Guise found the diary of a young girl and saved it for publication, with the agreement of Otto Frank, the only survivor of the concentration camps.

After the deaths of Anne, Edith, and Margot, Mape Gies argued that Anne’s writings were a universal testimony for generations to come. Series A Glimmer of Hope, available on Disney+, recounts the incredible courage of Miep Gies and Frank’s life in the Amsterdam Annex.

Filmed in Amsterdam and Prague, this heart-wrenching historical drama tells a remarkable and important story that remains very relevant and shines a light on the heroism of Mape Guise during this dark time in history.

In the cast of “Glimmer of Hope”, created by Joan Rutter and Tony Phelan – who were the screenwriters of Grey’s Anatomy and New York: Court of Justice, we especially meet Bel Paul (Mip Gies), Joe Cole (Ian Gies), Liev. Schreiber (Otto Frank), Amira Cassar (Edith Frank), Billy Boule (Anne Frank) and Ashley Brooke (Margot Frank).

The first two episodes of Glimpse of Hope are available on Disney+.
