In the 1990s, the public discovered Timmy-Joy Marbot for the role of Sebastian as a teenager. Her parents are played by Alix Poisson (Josie in 1991) and Eric Caravaca (Bernard in 1991), and her executioner by Olivier Chantrou (Dilu in 1991). Claire Nadeau (Mami Crepet in 1991) plays the grandmother of Sébastien and Tara Lugas (Fara in 1991) and Milhane Idiri (Tristan in 1991) the grandmother of his comrades.
Today Eric Cantona slips into the shoes of Sebastian as an adult to play the role of the heroes. “VTo kill childhood is to kill an adult“. This was the verdict delivered by Master Olivia Sage, a lawyer for Sebastian and his childhood friend Tristan, during the trial of their attacker, years after they were raped.
These few words perfectly sum up one of the messages that this fiction seeks to convey: the liberation of the voices of victims of sexual abuse is necessary to accompany them in their recovery and to keep their perpetrators out of harm’s way.
We really witness Sebastian’s unrepeatable self-destruction. She was raped in her teens, and since then she has been completely withdrawn from herself. As an adult, our hero forgets his trauma by drowning in alcohol and feels resentment towards his parents who did not see his misfortune thirty years ago.
A rugby coach notices that the behavior of one of the boys he is coaching changes completely and resembles the one he adopted after the attack. Sebastien realizes what he’s up to and quickly realizes that in order to save Cesar, he must find the courage to get out of his misery…and save himself.
The Colossus with Feet of Clay tells a moving story that is all the more poignant because it is true. Eric Cantona is precise, surprising as well as fragile and strong as Sebastien, as is Timmy-Joy Marbot. Secondary characters are also played by convincing actors, starting with Alix Poisson or Olivier Chantroy. Some scenes are shocking.
This telefilm with informative and preventive value fully fulfills its mission. But it is also sometimes too (too?) academic and didactic… One thing, in any case, is certain, like the real Sebastian Buil, who interviews colleagues, high schools and sports clubs to warn young people who are faced with such an intolerable situation. .. This unit also makes it possible to awaken the conscience.
