Bugs Bunny, the famous rabbit from the “Looney Tunes”, is about to return to the big screen in a new solo film. Director Robert Rugan was hired to write the script with a character-driven story. The big news is that the film will have a hybrid model of live-action and animation, as in the feature films “Space Jam: The Game of the Century” (1996), “Space Jam: A New Legacy” (2022) and “Looney Tunes : Back in Action” (2003).
The information was released by Rugan on his website and more news is expected to be announced soon. The film is already in development at Warner Bros. Discovery, responsible for the distribution of productions in the “Looney Tunes” universe. The franchise also features characters such as Daffy Duck, Frajola, Piu-Piu and Taz.
Created in 1930, Bugs Bunny has become an icon of animation and pop culture. With over 80 years of history, the character has starred in a long list of productions, including short films, features, television series, specials, as well as having comics of him. Originally voiced by actor and radio personality Mel Blanc, the character has become a staple for Warner Bros. – like Mickey Mouse is for Disney.
This year, the production company will also release the feature film “Coyote vs. Acme,” which features the return of the characters Coyote and Road Runner. With John Cena (“The Suicide Squad”), Will Forte (“The Last Guy on Earth”) and Lana Condor (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”) in the cast, the comedy also aims for the hybrid style . The screenplay was written by James Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), with Dave Green (“Earth to Echo”) directing.
The new Bugs Bunny movie has no cast confirmations or release date yet.
