From Asterix’s costume to… Louis XVI! Guillaume Canet has just finished shooting a costume film written and directed by Gianluca Giodis. Cinema Europe.
The film, called Le Déluge, tells the story of the last days of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. The latter is interpreted by Melanie Laurent.

Alongside Guillaume Canet and Melanie Laurent, the cast also includes Auro Bruten, Hugo Dillon, Tom Hudson, Roxanne Durand, Anouk Darwin Homewood, Vidal Arzon and Fabrizio Rongione.
Melanie Laurent and Guillaume Canet already shared the poster of the same movie 6 years ago: Christian Carrion’s Mon Garçon, released in September 2017.
Until now, Guillaume Canet has not allowed himself to exercise period film in costume. We will see him in the role of a king for the first time. On the historical film side, we can see it in Pierre Jolivet’s The Warrior’s Brother, Daniel Thompson’s Cezanne and Moy, or in another register, Pitoff’s Vidocq. The release date of Deluge is not yet known.
