He’s Nearly Invincible and Beats Guardians of the Galaxy: Introducing Adam Warlock

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (2017) Six years after his teaser, Adam Warlock finally hits our screens. He was introduced to us in the second post-credit scene of the film.

It featured Ayesha (Elizabeth Debic) coming up with a new strategy to defeat the Guardians after a crushing defeat. His new deadly weapon, still locked in a coffin, is called… Adam.

Who is Adam Warlock?

If you are one of those who smiled or even shouted “Yes!” In happiness, when the name Adam is pronounced, what follows does not have to tell you much.

On the other hand, if you hear absolutely nothing about the neighbors’ sudden euphoria at the end of this sequence, a little refresher is in order.

Adam Warlock, as he is also called, is indeed a particularly important character in the Marvel Universe. In the comics published in the late 1960s, he is presented as a superior being, genetically engineered in an artificial cocoon by the Enclave, a group of four Earth scientists whose goal is to create a super army.

The experiment eventually escaped them and he, upon reviving, destroyed the base of his creators before escaping. He then renamed himself Adam Warlock and gained power to the point where he was considered a god.

His adventures brought him to many other characters in the Marvel stable, such as Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, whose ranks he joined.

Haven’t we seen it before?

According to some fans, the cocoon that Adam Warlock evolved into has already been spotted twice in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There’s nothing at the moment to confirm this for sure, but the strange chrysalis you see behind one of the collector’s display cases in the post-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World may indeed be Warlock’s coffin. Coconut, which we also see in the first opus of the Guardians of the Galaxy, again in the collector.

Finally on our screens!

Adam Warlock was originally supposed to appear in the second installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. The wait has been longer than expected, and fans can only hope for one thing: that the character stays true to the comics.

It was actor Will Poulter (Labyrinth, Narnia) who was chosen to slip into his golden skin. It must be said that this superhero is a particularly interesting character: he derives his strength and the power of regeneration from cosmic energy, which makes him an almost invincible being.

If Guardians of the Galaxy 3 makes him one of the big movie villains, in the comics, he’s more of a superhero (it’s hard to imagine James Gunn making him a villain). In the movie, he is the creation of the Master of Evolution (Chukwudi Iwuji) and is tasked by the latter to bring Rocket Raccoon…
