The Federal Police also seized a pendrive at the home of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), during Operation Come, which investigates alleged fraud in the politician’s vaccination card. His mobile phone was also seized by Federal Police agents on the morning of Wednesday the 3rd.
The news was confirmed by the newspaper The globe. Now everything will be examined and can be used as evidence in other investigations already underway. Regarding the seizure, Bolsonaro said in an interview with reporters that the device did not have a password.
Also on Wednesday, initially, there was disclosure that the cell phone of Michelle Bolsonaro, former first lady, had also been seized. However, she denied the information in an Instagram post.
“Today the PF carried out a search and seizure of our home. We do not know the reason, and our lawyer did not have access to the documents either. Only my husband’s cell phone was seized,” she writes.
The former president’s passport has not been confiscated. The information was confirmed by the office of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who ordered the operation. According to the STF, it is the PF that has to decide what is or is not relevant to the investigation.
In addition to Bolsonaro’s address, 15 others were searched and confiscated, and other USB sticks were seized.
Operation Come
Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former assistant to former president Jair Bolsonaro, was arrested this Wednesday 3, by the operation Venire, of the federal police. In addition to him, 5 other people were arrested:
• Max Guilherme, former sergeant in the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) and former president’s security guard;
• Sergio Cordeiro, soldier in the Brazilian army and also Bolsonaro’s bodyguard;
• Luís Marcos dos Reis, army sergeant who was advisor to Bolsonaro and worked with aide-de-camp Mauro Cid;
• João Carlos de Souza Brecha, Municipal Secretary of Health of Duque de Caxias (RJ);
• Ailton Gonçalves Moraes Barros, former army major who ran for the PL in the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro in the last elections.
16 search and seizure warrants were also issued. Among the addresses targeted is the former CEO. On the spot, the PF confiscated his cell phone; that of former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro would have been spared. The investigation investigates the falsification of data from the following vaccination records:
•Jair Bolsonaro;
• Laura Bolsonaro, daughter of the former president;
• Mauro Cid, in addition to his wife and daughter.
The operation was carried out in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro. According to the PF, the false data would have been entered, between November 2021 and December 2022, in the SI-PNI and RNDS systems of the Ministry of Health. The goal was to circumvent the current health restrictions imposed by Brazil and the United States.
Bolsonaro went to the United States at the end of his term, along with the two arrested security guards. Forging documents to enter the United States can lead to ten years in prison on American soil for fraud. In 2021, the country included the certification of the covid-19 vaccine in the list of these documents, and mandatory immunization against the disease on American soil remains mandatory until May 12 this year.
