If dogs are often considered “man’s best friend,” they’re certainly filmmakers’ friends too, judging by their recurring presence in movies over the past few decades. Originating in loving, threatening or comical situations, they, like human characters, have their own character and role in the scenarios.
Among their many appearances, we can recall one of the most amazing scenes of Mary at any cost by the Farrelly brothers, when Cameron Diaz asks Ben Stiller to take his dog out of the bathroom.
He runs and falls on what he at first thinks is a very harmless little dog, before the real anthology battle between man and animal begins. A duel that will end with a brilliant slide of the dog through the window!
We also remember the almighty dog Bruce, played by Jim Carrey, who has an annoying tendency to urinate a little anywhere, like on the couch of the apartment to annoy his master.
Until the latter meets God in person (Morgan Freeman) grants him demiurgic abilities, which he does not hesitate to use in his daily life, especially teaching his dog to pee in the toilet (and to lower the bowl!).
Therefore, we are going to play with these numerous cinema dogs today, and especially with the dogs of the 80s, with eight pictures from eight films of this decade.
