A team of superheroes in a steampunk world with a fantastic influence. That’s an apt summary to describe Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, the new animated series created by iconic director Genny Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Laboratory, Hotel Transylvania franchise), whose first two episodes can already be discovered. on Adult Swim!

This double episode serves asorigin story In this completely original world, the early awakening of a group of protective heroes in the late 19th century forces them to enter the bodies of ordinary teenagers in search of lost powers before a dark threat appears!

The introductory fight sequence, both epic and breathtaking, eases us into a series that doesn’t shy away from introducing us to its characters, starting with its main character Amy, a witch-powered alter ego. My name is Melinda.

The life project of this animation genius

It would take two long decades for Gennady Tartakovsky to realize this project, which he had envisioned since his first years as an employee at the Cartoon Network studio in the late 90s.

The latter also felt that all of his previous series – including Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan – were a training ground for him, allowing him to gain the necessary experience to finally decide on the production of this new series.

Thus, Unicorn: Warrior Eternals acts as a kind of synthesis of the iconic style of Genny Tartakovsky, certainly one of the most recognized and appreciated creators in 21st century American animation.

The abundance of influence in his new series is sometimes appreciated for its generosity, but at other times it falls into the sin of pride. The feeling of keeping track of so many intersecting stories sometimes gives the impression that the program doesn’t know which foot to dance on to satisfy fans of multiple universes.

However, this impression is not enough to spoil the enjoyment of watching these first two episodes, after which the number of unanswered questions will surely leave most viewers to discover the next eight episodes of this first season.

You can watch Unicorn: Warriors Eternal weekly on Adult Swim, now available on Amazon Prime Video with a Warner Pass subscription.
