If Bridgerton Season 3 follows the romance between brother Colin and Penelope Fetherington, creator Shonda Rhimes is set to expand her universe by offering a prequel to Queen Charlotte. Set 40 years before events as we know them, the series explores the origins of the reigning sovereign and his encounter with King George.
The six-episode program manages to set itself apart from The Bridgerton Chronicle by offering a darker story and, in particular, exploring subjects such as mental illness. The series masterfully manages to connect the past with the present through many time jumps.
The final scene of episode six closes this prequel very nicely with a moving exchange between Queen Charlotte and King George. The two versions of the characters blend together as if to better emphasize their connection.
The question of a potential Season 2 definitely comes up. Can Queen Charlotte’s adventure continue? In absolute terms, yes, because there is still a lot to say. AlloCiné features two young actors, India Amarteifio and Corey Milchrest.
“Of course, anything is possibleCorey Mylchreest starts. But this project was definitely decided as a limited series, so I guess that’s the end of that chapter.”
So there is no Queen Charlotte sequel, but if this prequel is a success, creator Shonda Rhimes could launch new spin-offs based on other secondary characters.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Chapter is available on Netflix.
