Corinthians have only two players in the DM; see update

The medical department of the Corinthians, little by little, is emptying. At present, only Renato Augusto and Gustavo Mosquito are under Timão’s clinical care.

The number 8 shirt, the team’s technical reference, is still recovering from knee arthroscopy. Last Friday the athlete carried out activities with the ball in the sand tub at CT Dr. Gioacchino Grava. Gustavo Mosquito remains inside, recovering from an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.

The expectation is that Renato will still be absent during the month of May and will be absent in decisive clashes, such as the draw against Atlético-MG in the Copa do Brasil and the match against Argentinos Juniors for the Libertadores, away from home. Mosquito doesn’t yet have a performance forecast, but the trend is that he will be available again in the second half.

In the press conference, Vanderlei Luxemburgo spoke of the absence of Renato Augusto, the pillar of creativity of Corinthians. “This addiction (to Renato) isn’t a bad thing, it’s a good thing. If it were a bad thing, it would be complicated. The process ends, Renato won’t be eternal. It’s natural. It’s part of the process,” commented the coach.

Ruan Oliveira, who suffered the same injury as Gustavo Mosquito, is already in a much more advanced recovery phase. The midfielder already works with his team-mates on the pitch and is almost 100% physically fit. The 23-year-old’s last game was in August 2020.

Caetano and Rafael Ramos, who were in transition, are fully recovered and available to coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo. The two train without restrictions and can already be called up for the match against Fortaleza next Monday.

Thus, with almost all the players available, Luxemburgo tries to give “his face” to Corinthians. The commander worked with CT Dr. Joaquim Grava in search of solutions for the troubled moment of Alvinegro.

The match against Fortaleza will be played next Monday, at 8 pm (Brasilia time), at the Neo Química Arena. The match is valid for the 4th round of the Brazilian championship. Timão is looking to recover after back-to-back defeats in the competition, against Goiás and Palmeiras.
