Eduardo Suplicy chairs the session and speaks to an empty plenary in Alesp

Petista was the only one present in the Chamber on Friday among São Paulo’s 94 state deputies

At the age of 81, of which 50 in public life, state deputy Eduardo Supliciy (PT-SP) had an unprecedented and unusual experience last Friday afternoon, 5.

As reported by the politician, upon his arrival for a session in Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp)which is made up of 94 deputies, the PT found the plenary of the Chamber empty.

Even in the absence of a parliamentarian in the Chamber, the deputy opened the session, which was ordinary (normal legislative meeting, held on weekdays), and spoke for about 15 minutes.

“An unusual event happened today at @Alesp de SP. Of the 94 state deputies, the only one who attended the first 15 minutes of the ordinary session was me”, the deputy commented on social media.

Although Suplicy was only in plenary, there was the minimum attendance required by the regulations for the opening of a session, which is 14 MPs. Currently the presence in Ales is registered through biometric data.

“As no other MPs showed up, I closed the session,” said Suplicy.
