Marvel record: Guardians of the Galaxy beat the Grinch!

To create the Guardians’ new starship, Bowie, production designer Beth Mickle, and their team built three fully functional floors. The ship has six different berths as well as a huge cockpit. This is the largest checkpoint in the history of Marvel: the realism of the construction allowed the actors to look at this space in all directions.

Because the parts of the ship are connected together, the camera crew was able to capture footage that would otherwise have been impossible. The ship – which took more than four months to build – was built on a 1,400 square meter platform.

In terms of make-up, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 also broke the world record for the most prosthetics used in a single film production, ahead of Jim Carrey’s The Grinch (2000). James Gunn says: “There really are many. We must have created hundreds of beings we call humans that live on Counter-Earth.”

Rocket in the center

Rocket’s story drives the story of this third installment. Design by Knowhere

The construction of the Knowhere mining colony took more than six months. An entire city with 20 separate buildings (indoor and outdoor) was built on the largest plateau of Trilith, almost 3700 square meters.

Created in part by Charles Wood in the first film, Knowhere has expanded even further. Coining the term “space deco”, designers created a combination of traditional art deco and the addition of brackets, circles, pylons and plasterwork in places normally unseen.
