The Dutchman from Red Bull moves from 9th to 1st place and consolidates his leadership in the F1 world championship. Sergio Perez, also from Red Bull, is second, with Alonso third
The Miami GP provided a better race than the order. Even without rain or safety car, the GP held in Florida was very eventful on the track. But on-track action doesn’t mean unexpected results. Gave Max Verstappen!
In an inspired day, the Dutchman started from ninth position, climbed the pack on the hard tires (against the medium tires of the others) and dominated the race with aplomb. In the final part of the race, when he stopped, he had to pass Sergio Perez, but the difference in tires made the move a mere protocol.
Perez finished 2nd, with no chance against his colleague off the bend. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso also had a few clashes with compatriot Carlos Sainz, but sailed alone to another 3rd place of the season. Fourth podium in five stages.
The top 10 is followed by George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon and Kevin Magnussen.
With the victory and the fastest lap, Verstappen reaches 119 points, against 105 for Perez. Alonso continues his destiny of scoring 15 points every weekend, reaching 75 points.

Find out in detail how the F1 GP Miami went:
PRE-RACE โ Variety of strategies. There were those who chose to start with each of the three types of tyres. The top seven started on the standard soft tire strategy. Ocon and Verstappen, 8th and 9th, came out hard. Hamilton, the 13th, ditto. The two McLarens, who arrived from the bottom, started from new races.
START โ Perez managed to position himself well on the track and kept the lead of the race. Alonso and Sainz have maintained the following positions. Magnussen had a bad start and lost several 3 positions. Verstappen even lost one, but recovered on the first lap.
Piastri made a great start, gaining 5 positions on his new soft tyres. Norris also made a good start but was touched by De Vries in the first corner and saw his race hampered.
Lap 02/57 โ Verstappen overtakes Bottas and becomes 8th, even before opening the DRS. The sergeant enters the pits to change his nose.
03/57 โ Magnussen started in front of Leclerc and took sixth position. The two continued to duel for half a turn. Better for Verstappen, who managed to get into the fight and pass them both at once. The two-time champion was already 6th.
07/57 โ Perez remains about 2 seconds behind Alonso, controlling the distance. Further back, Verstappen was closing on Russell, who was using DRS to hold his position.
08/57 โ Although without being able to get that close, Verstappen dived inside at the end of the straight and overtook Russell.
09/57 โ Verstappen repeats the maneuver of the previous lap, now on Gasly. The Frenchman wasted some time by going off-kilter as he pushed back Verstappen. As a result, he was also overtaken by Russell at the next corner.
11/57 โ Perez picks up the pace, opens 2s5 from Alonso and sets the fastest lap. Verstappen in 4th followed suit and took the best lap. The Dutchman was fastest on track even on the hard tyres.
13/57 โ Leclerc and Magnussen were still fighting. The Monegasque folded and got an X from the Danish.
14/57 โ Verstappen eliminates Sainz and takes the podium. Meanwhile, Magnussen was the first to go from medium to hard.
15/57 – Verstappen reaches 2nd place after overtaking Alonso. The distance between the Red Bull cars was 3s8.
18/57 – Russell and Leclerc changed tires using hard compounds.
19/57 – Sainz pits at the limit, locking all four tires to reach the speed limit. The Spaniard is back close to the fight between Hamilton and Hulkenberg. At the end of the lap he overtook Hamilton.
20/57 โ Perez is called to the pits when he was just over 1 second ahead of Verstappen.
22/57 – Perez passes Ocon without difficulty and gains a free lane to take advantage of Verstappen.
23/57 – Sainz receives a five-second penalty for speeding in the pits. Meanwhile, Hamilton overtook Hulkenberg after several rounds of attempts. The Englishman took 6th place with overtaking.
24/57 – Russell manages a good maneuver on Stroll and turns the 9th.
25/57 – Alonso is the last of those who started from medium to switch to hard. He comes back 5th, one second behind Sainz, who has a penalty to take.
26/57 – Verstappen leads, with 16 seconds on Perez. Ocon, also non-stop, finished 3rd. Then came Sainz, Alonso, the still unstoppable trio Hamilton, Hulkenberg and Tsunoda, with Russell and Gasly rounding out the top 10.
27/57 – Alonso overtook Sainz and became 4th on track, 3rd in practice.
29/57 โ Russell continues his climb by overtaking Hulkenberg and moving up to 7th place. Alonso overtook Ocon and also became third in the standings.
30/57 – Sainz also surpasses Ocon and stays close to Alonso.
33/57 โ Hamilton gives way to Russell, with a different strategy, to gain one more position.
34/57 – A good fight is formed between Tsunoda, Hulkenberg, Gasly, Stroll, Magnussen and Leclerc, which is worth the 8th place. Hulk makes his pit stop at the end of the lap, being one of the first to switch from hard to medium.
35/57 โ Verstappen continued to set the fastest lap, even with badly worn tyres.
36/57 โ Russell passes Gasly and moves into 5th place. The Englishman can’t complain about the lack of action in his race… Meanwhile, Perez replies to Verstappen and sets the fastest lap.
37/57 โ Russell, still on the momentum, overtakes Sainz and becomes 4th.
And the fight between Leclerc and Magnussen continued: once again, the Ferrari driver overtook to be overtaken shortly after.
38/57 – Leclerc finally overtakes Magnussen. Hamilton puts the average and returns 13th.
40/57 โ Hamilton overtakes Bottas on the pit straight. Ocon comes out of the pits right between the two, touching Bottas. The order was Hamilton 10th, Ocon 11th and Bottas 12th.
43/57 โ Verstappen continued at an amazing pace on the hard tires and opened 18s5 on Perez, a distance which, in theory, would have allowed him to return to 1st after the stop.
45/57 โ Finally, Verstappen switched to medium tires at the end of 45 minutes. Perez took the lead by just over 1 second.
47/57 – With much newer and grippy tires, Verstappen collides with Perez. The Mexican plays hard, but loses the lead in the opening 48′.
54/57 – Leclerc, undermined by Hamilton, accelerates and overtakes Gasly. Hamilton takes advantage of it and in the same lap also eliminates Gasly.
55/57 – Hamilton squeezes between the wall and Leclerc and moves to 6th place.
57/57โ Verstappen passes 1st, with the extra point for the fastest lap. Perez is 2nd, more than 5 seconds behind. Alonso, alone on the track, closed the podium.
