Prime Video: Thriller lovers, there’s only one week left to see the sequel to Gone Girl on the platform

2016 saw The Girl on the Train hit our screens, an adaptation of the novel written by Paula Hawkins, which sold over 3 million copies in the US alone the previous year. Touted by the press as the success of Appearances (Gillian Flynn), who hit the screen in Gone Girl, this gripping thriller is told from the perspective of a young alcoholic suffering from memory loss. It is up to him and the viewer/reader to fill in the blanks and identify true/false.

It was Emily Blunt who chose Rachel’s camp. The latter takes the same train every day and passes the same house every day. Devastated by her divorce, she fantasizes about the couple living there and imagines a perfect life for them… until she witnesses an extremely shocking event and, despite herself, becomes intimately involved in a terrifying mystery.

If the book was full, its adaptation didn’t really convince the press and the audience, who rated it 3.2/5 on Allociné. The latter nevertheless praised the performances of the female trio – Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson and Haley Bennett – and their male counterparts (Justin Theroux, Luke Evans and Edgar Ramirez). The mixed reviews didn’t stop Bollywood from making its own adaptation in 2021 in Mira, The Girl on the Train.

But if you’re into psychological thrillers, La Fille du train remains very good entertainment. The end of the film will turn your brain and leave you with only one desire: to watch it again to see the details that you missed. Advice, watch your appearance…
