Christopher Nolan is back.
Christopher Nolan is back. ‘Oppenheimer’, his new film, has just released its final trailer (which you can see on these lines) before its world premiere in theaters next July, anticipating the moral debate of the creator of the atomic bomb in his race against time against the Nazis.
“Now I have become death, the destroyer of worlds”, was the phrase pronounced by the nuclear physicist and father of the atomic bomb J. Robert Oppenheimer while he was contemplating the first detonation of the weapon of mass destruction that he had just created. However, his intention was very different. The leader of the ‘Manhattan Project’ only wanted to build a bomb so powerful that no one would dare to use it, ending the war once and for all.. But, as Kenneth Branagh’s character makes clear in the trailer, “The world is not ready for the power to self-destruct.”
The trailer also shows us the fear that detonating the bomb would literally mean the end of the world. The person in charge of putting himself in the shoes of the nuclear scientist in a dilemma of this magnitude will be cillian murphy, star of ‘Peaky Blinders’ and a regular collaborator of Nolan (it will be their sixth film together). next to him will be Emily Blunt like Kitty, his wife, Matt Damon as the director of the Manhattan Project Leslie Groves, Robert Downey Jr. as Atomic Energy Commission official Lewis Strauss, Florence Pugh as Oppenheimer’s psychiatrist (and love interest) Jean Tatlock, Gary Oldman as US President Harry S. Truman, alden ehrenreich such as theoretical physicist Richard Feynman and Josh Harnett like nuclear chemist Ernest Lawrence. But the spectacular cast does not end there.
We will also see, in a cast that has nothing to envy to that of ‘Asteroid City’ by Wes Anderson, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Alex Hoff, Casey Affleck, James D’Arcy, Jason Clarke and Tom Conti like Albert Einstein himself.
