Presented with an unusual twist at the Cannes Film Festival, “Salam” sheds new light on Melanie Diam’s career. AlloCiné watched the documentary film event.
This is the documentary event of the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival: Greetings, which will be shown in a world preview and in a special screening this Thursday, May 26th. Producer of Black Dynamite and Brut This film recalls rapper Diam’s journey after 10 years of silence.
Written and produced by Melanie Diam involved in the project Huda Benjamin (Divines, The Eddy) and Anna Cisse (Vampires) and enjoy it like never before.
Diam found peace
This moving documentary draws strength from the story of Melanie Diam, which is told with an open heart, years after the end of her music career, which leaves many fans. He, who was a representative of the youth crying in the 2000s, recalls the painful moments of his life and uncompromisingly asks intimate questions about its history.
Modestly but with great sincerity, Melanie Diam entrusts her moments of glory, moments of doubt, failure, psychiatry, the search for meaning in life, and conversion to Islam. He responds to difficult topics, talking about depression, suicidal thoughts and media pressure.
The documentary is highlighted by a sophisticated soundtrack and slam by Diam’s, whose real name is Melanie Georgiades, and is also worthy of the beauty of her images, even if they are too (too?) Clipsque. Salam is also highlighted by testimonies from Diam’s relatives, such as his mother, his former manager, his former producer, and his dear friends, who comment on and explain the cross stations and Diam’s new life.
Do not expect Diamond’s music career to go back in depth or revise excerpts or listen to his old voices, he who now shines and lives far from show business will surely turn the page. While maintaining his tenderness and love for his fans, he has now found the inner peace and happiness he has been seeking since childhood.
Overlooking the Bunuel’s room at the Festival Palace, he greeted the audience, who applauded the film for a long time. And for those hoping to see the artist on stage, Diam’s did not want to attend, but still recorded a very warm video, which was warmly welcomed by a room that was full.
“Salam” will be released in cinemas from July 1, for a limited period of 2 days, before being placed on the BrutX platform at the beginning of the school year.
