With the success of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, fans are curious as to whether the Marvel movie will get a sequel. In a Twitter answer session, James Gunn answered the question.
A netizen asked, “So…GOTG (Guardians of the Galaxy) vol 4 in the future?”. In a short response, Gunn stated, “Nope.”
The answer does not mean that this is the end of films dedicated to the group of superheroes. That could still happen in the future, but Gunn is very unlikely to be involved in this project.
That’s because Gunn was brought on as co-CEO of DC Studios. At the rival studio, he will be responsible for coordinating films, series and animations. Currently, the director is responsible for directing Superman: Legacy scheduled for July 2025.
In the same Twitter response session, an Internet user asked if the actors from Guardians of the Galaxy will be featured in the new Superman movie, and Gunn replied, again with one word, that “yes.”

Until the announcement of a fourth film or a new spin-off Guardians of the Galaxywe will still see the characters of the superhero team in other Marvel titles.
In one of the post-credits scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3we see that the group will have a new lineup with Rocket Raccoon replacing Peter Quill (Starlord), who decides to step aside to deal with the problems of his past.
Even with some departures and new characters joining the superhero team, the post-credits scene gives hope for a new film in the franchise.
In the final scene after the credits, we see Quill return to Earth and meet his grandfather. At the end of this scene, the message “The Starlord will return” appears, indicating that the character will have a solo film.
Another character we can expect to see again is Groot. In response to a tweet from James Gunn, one netizen asked, “Will we have more episodes of I’m amazing? And you’re still involved?”, referring to the Disney+ series.
The director responded that he “thinks” fans could expect more episodes from the series, but is no longer involved with the project.
