James Gunn was temporarily fired from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ due to comments posted on his Twitter account. Behind this, Klementieff and Gillian (who brings Nebula to life in the franchise)they met at the house of the second to secretly read the script (and, by the way, cry a little).
“I went to Karen’s house, at that time James Gunn was not going to do the movie,” commented the actress. “So we decided to read the script. We wouldn’t stop crying all the time.“
“We laughed at the same time, and we cried again,added Gillian, her partner. “It was quite exciting.”
“Then we got paranoid that someone might find the script. So I said, ‘we should hide it. Maybe we should bury him in the garden’,” Klementieff continued to explain. “I love to hide things, but then I can’t find them. I am like a squirrel. It’s one of my problems.”
After this, Gillian confirmed everything explained by her colleague. “She actually asked me to bury the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ script in my garden. I told her, ‘but what are you saying? Put it in a closet or something…'”
James Gunn’s exclusion from the project was eventually revoked after cast members signed an open letter to Disney, defending the director and calling for his return to the project.
“We fully support James Gunn,” they affirmed. “We have been perplexed by this abrupt dismissal and we have waited ten days to respond, after having thought, prayed, listened and debated. During this time, we’ve been buoyed by the relentless outpouring of support from fans and members of the media who want James to be proclaimed director of ‘Volume 3’. We have also been amazed at how many people have easily fallen for these conspiracies.”
“His story isn’t over — at least for now,“added the letter. “The judgment of public opinion is not rigorous. James is not the first nor the last to be tried innocent. Due to the increase in the political division of the country, we are sure that this type of cases will continue, but We hope the Americans can smooth things over and stop imposing this cancellation policy.“
Ultimately, Gunn returned to his position as director. Now, some time later, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ has hit theaters and the script that one day tried to be kept underground, has seen the light of day all over the world.
