While the Fast and Furious series outdoes itself with each film, the recently released “Fast X” video game follows the “less is more” strategy and hits the mark.
Are you an avid gamer who likes to pool their savings when a new console comes out? And, for a new title release date, are you happy to take a day or two off? Then the game that just came out to coincide with the upcoming theatrical release of Fast & Furious 10 is probably NOT for you…
…that’s because, while the film series has only gotten better with each sequel to present audiences with even bigger explosions, even faster cars, and even crazier stunts, the new game goes in a completely different direction. Here the motto is very clear: less is more.
The fast saga officially announced the release via Twitter and is therefore unlikely to appeal to classic gamers who have an Xbox X/S or PlayStation 5 at home to be able to play in the highest possible quality. The target audience here is more likely to be fans of classic arcade games who enjoy a minimalist aesthetic. After all, this is an 8-bit game where you can run around the world as Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and company.
Similar to the retro trailers for Fast & Furious 1-9 that Universal Pictures released ahead of the release of the big trailer for Part 10, they are now using another opportunity to get audiences in the mood for the theatrical release of Fast X on May 18, 2023.
Instead of investing millions of dollars in a “real” game, however, they opted for an economically less risky option – thank goodness! Because a quick glance is enough to understand what the game is about. It really feels like an incredibly cheap production, almost as if it’s been taken straight from the 80s to the present day. However, that simplicity also makes it extremely fun and almost addictive.
FAST AND FURIOUS 10: IT’S FINALLY TIME!
However, one can wonder to what extent the game will serve as a set-up for the upcoming movie. Once again, the action will be particularly spectacular, as the trailer for Fast & Furious 10 makes abundantly clear.
Still, it’s curious to see what kind of film will emerge from the troubled production. After all, the film lost director Justin Lin early in filming, who was eventually replaced by director Louis Leterrier. No wonder this circumstance blew up the film budget so much that Fast and Furious 10, with production costs of more than 340 (!!!) million dollars, became one of the most expensive films of all times. . To be successful, the tenth film in the saga will have to gross much more than its direct predecessor, which fell short of expectations with 726 million dollars…
