The new Game of Thrones spin-off is on hold due to a strike

The production of the new spin-off of game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, in free translation) was paralyzed by the writers’ strike in Hollywood. The information was released on Sunday (7) by the writer of the books that serve as the basis for the series, George RR Martin.

How long will the strike last? No idea. Perhaps members of the Movie and Television Producers Alliance (AMPTP) will come to their senses tomorrow and offer some significant concessions, and the whole thing could wrap up next week. I wouldn’t bet on it, though. I’ve been through a lot since I started writing for television and film in 1986. The 1988 strike, the first one I was a part of, lasted 22 weeks, the longest in Hollywood history. The 2007-2008 strike, the last one, lasted 100 days. This can last longer.

RR Martin also added that the scripts for the eight episodes were completed months ago, well before the strike started, but still need to undergo revisions.

The new production derived from game of Thrones is based on the book “The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – Stories from the World of Ice and Fire” and takes place 100 years before the events of GoT. The focus will be on the story of two characters, Ser Duncan the Tall (future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard) and his squire, Egg (future King Aegon V Targaryen), otherwise known as Dunk & Egg.

Strike

The strike comes after the class associated with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) failed to reach an agreement for higher wages with streaming studios.

Also derived from the GoT universe, House of the Dragonn (The House of the Dragon) got rid of the break thanks to the advance with the scripts. Even though it was filmed in the UK, closure rules require any domestic or international projects under the jurisdiction of the WGA to be halted, which could delay development of the series’ eagerly awaited second season.
