‘Heartstopper’ Season 2 on Netflix: Release date, cast, plot, trailer

Netflix renews ‘Heartstopper’ for a second and third season. Of the pull

Spoilers for season 1 of ‘Heartstopper’

‘Heartstopper’ ironically stole our hearts with the trailer, and Netflix’s LGBTQ+ teen love story has already cemented its place in the hearts of fans around the world. Nick and Charlie’s story is unforgettable, and critics declared it a triumph of embracing your sexuality even before the series hit the mainstream platform.

We’ve already covered the ‘Heartstopper’ season 1 finale in detail, but what awaits Nick, Charlie and their group of friends as they discover their future and what they find along the way? Here’s everything you need to know about the second season…

‘Heartstopper’ season 2: Release date

It’s official: Netflix has renewed ‘Heartstopper’ for a second season. But not only that, but it has confirmed that… The third one also has the green light!

The person in charge of breaking the news was the author of the original graphic novels, Alice Oseman, who posted a video on Instagram drawing Charlie and Nick. When revealing the finished drawing, under the characters it could be read: “Two more seasons!”

‘Heartstopper’ season 2: Cast

It wouldn’t be the series we know and love without Kit Connor as Nick and Joe Locke as Charlie. When the couple begins their relationship publicly, they will have the support of their best friends Elle (played by Yasmin Finney) and Tao (William Gao).

Olivia Colman will also likely return as Nick’s supportive mother, who found out in the final episode that her son was bisexual and in love with Charlie. Fisayo Akinade will return as Mr. Ajayi, the teacher who allows Charlie and Nick to spend time in his classroom during breaks, away from prying eyes, while Nick comes to terms with his sexuality.

All is likely not to be rosy, however, with Sebastian Croft playing Ben Hope, Charlie’s ex-closet secret and stalker, still around to cause trouble. Rhea Norwood will likely round out the cast as Imogen, who “liked” that Nick didn’t realize he had a crush on Charlie.

‘Heartstopper’ season 2: Plot

When ‘Heartstopper’ returns, it will likely pick up right where it left off. Nick has finally opened up to his mom and is ready to call Charlie “his boyfriend” of him. However, it remains to be seen how the rest of the school reacts when he is found out.

Ben is likely unhappy with this development, as he has developed a sense of ownership over Charlie despite refusing to come out. Now that Charlie has moved on, it seems more intense than ever.

On top of this, there is a lot of homophobia simmering in the halls of the school, led by the wealthy and privileged Harry. Tao and Elle will also have to deal with their growing feelings for each other as they finally decide whether to remain friends or become something more. Basically, the drama is just beginning.
