‘Iron Man’ turns 15 at Marvel’s UCM: This is the deleted scene that you will never see with Tony Stark stealing parts from a washing machine

According to Kevin Feige, the head honcho at Marvel, “it would be embarrassing for people to see these scenes” from Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Iron Man’.

15 years after 2008’s ‘Iron Man’ kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are still parts of the movie fans have never seen.

In a recent interview with screen rant, producer Jeremy Latcham described one of the film’s previously unseen deleted scenes. In the streaming age, many platforms are making extras and deleted scenes available for fans to watch alongside their favorite movies. However, hThere is a scene that is apparently so bad that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige never wants it to see the light of day..

Latcham says there are three or four deleted scenes so bad he doesn’t think they’ll ever get published. One of them involves the Ten Rings, the terrorist group that captured Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) at the beginning of the first superhero movie. The Ten Rings want Tony to build a missile for them, but according to Latcham, Tony had another job for the terrorists, which was doing their laundry..

“I asked Kevin, ‘Should we remove the deleted scenes of Tony doing laundry?’ And Kevin said, ‘Yeah. We can never teach Tony doing laundry. People will know that we don’t know what we’re doing. It will be embarrassing if they see these scenes“.

In the movie, while the Ten Rings terrorists think Tony is building a missile, he is actually building the first Iron Man suit with the resources available to him. Later in the film, when Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) has other scientists create a suit for him, he tells them that Tony built his suit “out of a box of junk”. The deleted scene showed Tony digging a little deeper into that statement:. “Tony is doing laundry for the captors, but he’s really breaking the washing machine and stealing parts to build the Mark 1 suit,” Latcham said. “It’s absurd. It’s crazy”.

The first movie of ‘Iron-Man’ launched a franchise that has continued for 15 years (and what remains). The post-credits scene established, for the first time for Marvel, the film as part of a larger universe, with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) telling Tony about the “Avengers Initiative.” A few months later, Tony appeared in the post-credits scene of the second MCU movie, ‘Hulk’, confirming the Infinity Saga.

Tony Stark was one of the key characters in the franchise, especially as a member of the Avengers.. Even after his death in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’, characters like Spider-Man / Tom Holland have tried to carry on his legacy. And who knows, maybe I can go back now that the multiverses exist and there are other Tony Starks out there…
