Joaquin Mazon is in charge of directing ‘La vida padre’, the new comedy written by Joaquin Oristrell.
Bilbao and Madrid have been the cities that have hosted the filming of this production that has two heavyweights of our cinema as protagonists who will put themselves in the shoes of a father and a son: Karra Elejalde (‘While the war lasts’, ‘Eight Basque surnames’) and Enric Auquer (‘Perfect Life’, ‘Who kills with iron’), both winners of the Goya Award. Elejalde, known for his work in films such as ‘Airbag’, ‘Los cronocrimenes’ or ‘La madre muerte’ among many others, has won the award for Best Supporting Actor twice for ‘Also the rain’ and ‘Eight Basque surnames’. This year he has also premiered ‘They arrived at night’ and at the end of 2022 he will present ‘Reyes contra Santa’, the comedy directed by paco knighteither.
Auquer, who had been seen in several television series and in films such as ‘Barcelona, noche de viento’ or ‘La filla d’algú’ received Best New Actor for his work in ‘Who kills with iron’. Along with his work in the series ‘Perfect life’, also released in 2019, he also won a Feroz Award and an Ondas Award as a supporting actor in 2020. He will also be seen in ‘One Year, One Night’, by Isaki Lacuestaand in the comedy ‘I have gone viral’, directed by Jorge Corira.
In this comedy Auquer plays Mikel, a young and ambitious chef, who receives an unexpected visit from his father, who has been missing for thirty years. At a critical moment for the future of his restaurant, Mikel must take charge of the crazy and unpredictable Juan, a true hurricane of vitality that will test all of his ideas about cooking and life.
The two actors are accompanied Megan Montaner (’30 coins’, ‘Lord, give me patience’), Lander Otaola (Homeland, Anne), Maribel Salas (‘Down there’, Little Switzerland), Gorka Aguinagalde (Ane, Losing the East) and Manuel Burque (‘Perfect Life’, ‘Requirements to be a normal person’).
Mazón already directed ‘Elite Corps’ in 2016, and was also behind the homonymous series that came out two years later based on the tape. ‘La vida padre’ is his second feature film, which will be followed by ‘From lost to Rio’.
The film is a production of MOD Pictures, MOD Producciones, Kowalski Films and Lavipa Films and has the participation of MOVISTAR+, RTVE, and ETB, with funding from ICAA – Government of Spain and the support of Bilbao City Council, Bilbao Provincial Council and Arcano Audiovisual Financing.
‘La vida padre’ will hit theaters next september 16.
