In Season 2, Episode 17, titled “an accident” In VO, Dr. Murphy confronts Dr. Han (Daniel Dae Kim) after being kicked out of a major surgery. In their argument, the young doctor cries out:I am a surgeon!“, while the elder looks at him stoically.
Set in the United States in March 2019, the scene, which recently surfaced on Tiktok and Twitter, has sparked a wave of negative reactions to the good doctor, with netizens criticizing what they consider an offensive representation of autism.
It must be said that the contrast between Dr. Murphy’s intensity and Dr. Han’s stoicism seems absurd and exaggerated, especially when you take this scene out of its original context. So netizens had a field day hijacking the scene, which has now become a meme.
