‘We are trying to find a road that Fortaleza has already consolidated’, highlighted the Italian commander
Coach Dorival Júnior tried to play down his six-game unbeaten run (seven in total for São Paulo, counting Rogério Ceni’s last game) after a goalless draw with Fortaleza on Thursday night (11), in Castelão , for the Brazilian championship.
In his interview at the end of the match, the coach tried to enhance the football presented by the Tricolor and also the opponent in the match.
– I think thinking about invincibility at a time like this, honestly, for us, is not worth it. The important thing is to look for the goal. It wasn’t a technically brilliant match, but it was a closely contested one, with both teams creating chances, looking for goals at every moment. And it was a clean match, with no kicks, except for the expulsions, but not violent in the extreme – underlined Dorival, commenting on the red cards received by Brítez, from Fortaleza, and Nestor, from San Paolo.
Also in his interview, the captain of the San Paolo underlined that not everything at Morumbi is perfect. Dorival warns of a certain ‘instability’ and cites Ceará’s opponent as an example for his club ‘reconstruction’ project.
– I think we are trying to find a path that Fortaleza has already established for some time. I think few teams will be able to steal points here (at Castelão) and this is very important, even more so for us, who are still experiencing a certain instability, but with maturity and with much more confidence (every game).
In light of this, Dorival has sought to emphasize that he is satisfied with what his players have presented on the pitch.
– This is the job we are looking for. The difficulties of playing here are real, so the point (won) must be highly appreciated. That’s why the players are to be congratulated on the way they performed in the 90 minutes.
